Rodger Waugh

Rodger brings to Cooper Park vast tennis and coaching experiences. He has been coaching at a variety of levels for over 50 years. His extensive playing experience has formed his coaching philosophy which centres around teaching new skills through enjoyment, variety and progression. He believes that tactics and court craft are fundamental to becoming a competitive player.

Rodgers tennis results speak for themselves. As a junior he was ranked No 1 in singles in the under 19 Australian age group. He has won more then 50 country championships in singles/doubles and played in many finals against many of the greats in Australian Tennis. He competed at interdistrict level for 50 years in a row and was made a life member of the NSW Hard Court Association. He served on the Canterbury Bankstown Tennis Association committee for over 20 years.

He has experienced many highlights in his long and illustrious career and fondly remembers being one of four boys chosen to ride in the 1960 cavalcade through the streets of Sydney with the Davis Cup on board.
